Identity theft is considered as a serious crime in many countries. Criminals pretend to be another person in order to get benefits, like access to bank accounts and funds. Although the name is misleading, because you can’t possibly steal a person’s identity, the name is very literal, since the criminal makes use of another person’s identity to steal.
